Legionella Testing for Doctors Surgeries
Legionella is a type of bacteria that can cause a serious form of pneumonia called Legionnaires disease. I n the UK, all doctors surgeries, medical centres and other healthcare premises are required to have a written scheme together with a legionella risk assessment for controlling identified risks in accordance with the Health & Safety Executives Approved Code of Practice and Guidance document L8.
The purpose of carrying out a risk assessment is to identify and assess any risks in your water system which is common sense and sensible. A risk assessment is not complicated if you know how but with the demands placed upon modern practice manager and business managers at GP surgeries and medical practices it is another box that needs to be ticked and procedure that needs to be conformed to.
A risk assessment should be reviewed at least every 2 years and any time there is a significant change such as if you have added to or modified your water systems, the use of the water system has changed. But why not instead of this being another item to schedule into your ever growing list let your calibration company add this element to your annual calibration appointment?
Amalgamation of services has to be the way forward, you don’t want multi-pal engineers, technicians, Pat testers, fridge servicing technicians (the list goes on), causing you days of disruption getting in the way of your doctors and nurses doing their jobs and causing you more administration at the same time.More services from one trusted supplier on one day with a reduced invoice and all of the compliant certificated at the same time is the most efficient way.
If you need assistance, advice or a recommendation about any of the above mentioned services or indeed something different please don’t hesitate to contact our friendly team in out office who will be very happy to help on 01159063131.
